In Fall 2022 Bike Walk Oak Park published a Safety Report outlining our concerns about pedestrian and bicycle safety surrounding D97 schools.

We advocate for safe and equitable access to streets in Oak Park - streets that prioritize pedestrians, bicycles, and other non-motorized transport.

Check out our D-97 School Safety Report, a school-by-school analysis of where we are and where we need to go to increase active transportation safety around Oak Park schools.

Bike Walk Oak Park (BWOP) is a volunteer advocacy group of Oak Park residents who work toward the fair and safe use of friendly streets by all our neighbors who walk, roll, ride and drive. Our goal is to ensure transportation equity is central to the development and growth of Oak Park.

Launched in 2018 with roughly 10 volunteers and supporters, we have since grown to 1,000 supporters!

Bike Walk Oak Park’s mission is to advocate for safe and equitable access to streets within our Village; streets that prioritizes pedestrians, bicycles, and other non-motorized transport. We promote the need to remove all barriers which exist that are inhibiting our community from accessing roadways and public spaces. We firmly believe that Oak Park residents should not be required to maintain the financial burden of car ownership to safety travel through our Village. We are committed to building a community that ensures equitable and safe access to our public spaces.
